Avalon Research Ltd. is a Canadian based company specializing in the design and manufacture of specialty Well Control tools.
Our particular area of specialization is slickline & electric line deployed pressure control devices for downhole oilfield service.
Avalon has a long history of innovation, which includes inventing the world's first retrievable bridge plug. This has saved our clients millions. We also hold patents for over 25 other products and technical systems. We make products that work, and that stand the test of time.
We are very proud of our industry track record relating to critical well control operations in all aspects of oil and gas well intervention. Avalon Research is also well known within the industry for conceptualization and development of a multitude of improvements to tools and processes for oil and gas well intervention.
We've brought successful solutions to 98% of the problems brought to us.

Des Quinn
CEO & Founder
Des has over 30 years of well control experience which includes extinguishing wells in Kuwait (post Gulf War). His Kuwait experience ranged from designing firefighting equipment in Singapore to being lead firefighter in capping wells. He has worldwide onshore and offshore experience in all aspects of drilling, completion and well intervention, and a well earned reputation for solving well control problems. Through the company Des owns multiple Canadian and US Patents for downhole tools including the world's first QRTP - Quinn Retrievable Tubing Packer (superceded by the QUP - Quinn Ultimate Packer).

Doug joined Avalon as president 5 years ago, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained during 30 years of running multiple businesses. From sales and marketing to strategic planning and product development, Doug has in-depth knowledge and expertise in all areas of business. He prides himself on building customer relationships and providing top quality service at a personal level. With his across the board experience Doug is just as comfortable in meetings and on the phone with existing or prospective customers as he is out in the field training engineers and field specialists on every operational and safety aspect of our full range of products.
