Temporary well isolation needs to do two things well: provide a reliable barrier when it is needed and allow operations to resume efficiently when the work is complete. The QUP Retrievable Bridge Plugs from Avalon Research are designed around both requirements, providing a practical solution for pressure control, well intervention, testing, and other downhole applications.
The Quinn Ultimate Packer from Avalon Research can be set, retrieved, rebuilt, and reused without requiring extensive labour or equipment, giving operators a flexible isolation option while reducing downtime and the cost of conventional plug removal. Keep reading to learn why you should use the Quinn Ultimate Packer in your next temporary zone isolation project.
One Retrievable Bridge Plug, Multiple Applications
A major advantage of the QUP is its versatility. Depending on its configuration, the system can be used as a plug, straddle, hanger, artificial lift hanger, or choke.
As a bridge plug, the QUP provides a mechanical barrier for pressure control and can support operations such as snubbing, wellhead changes, sour gas or CO2 zone suppression, and offshore collision control. Straddle configurations can provide zone isolation while maintaining production through the tool’s large through-bore.
This flexibility gives operators more options when selecting equipment for different downhole requirements.
Flexible Setting and Retrieval Options
Avalon designs its tools to simplify downhole operations rather than introduce unnecessary complexity. Our retrievable bridge plugs reflect this approach through flexible deployment and retrieval options.
QUP plugs can be set or pulled using conventional methods, including slickline, e-line, and coiled tubing. They are also compatible with our Non-Explosive Setting System (NESS), providing an alternative for operations where transporting or using conventional explosive setting equipment presents additional challenges.
Once retrieved, the Quinn Ultimate Packer’s straightforward design also allows it to be rebuilt in the field using minimal tools, helping prepare the equipment for another run without unnecessary delays.
Built for Different Well Conditions
Not every bridge plug can support all well conditions, which is why our bridge plugs are available in a variety of diameters, setting ranges, differential pressure ratings, and bore sizes. Many available configurations are rated for differential pressures up to 10,000 psi.
Material selection is equally important in demanding environments. QUP plugs are manufactured to NACE MR0175 requirements for sour service, while available elastomer options accommodate different temperature requirements. Standard HSN options are rated to 300°F (150°C), while Viton options are rated to 400°F (205°C).
Find the Right QUP Retrievable Bridge Plug for Your Application
At Avalon Research, we design and manufacture downhole tools with a focus on simplicity and reliability for use across a variety of downhole projects. With multiple sizes and configurations available, our QUP Retrievable Bridge Plugs provide operators with a versatile option for temporary isolation without unnecessarily complicating deployment or retrieval.
